Searching Kendall County Civil Dockets
Start with jurisdiction. Is the matter a district court case, a Justice of the Peace precinct case, a Kendall County Court matter, or federal? Divorce, adoption, SAPCR, name changes, land-title disputes, and election contests belong to the 451st or 498th Judicial District Court. Records for those sit at the District Clerk. Evictions, debt suits, and small claims go to the assigned JP. Probate records start with the County Clerk. Probate hearing questions may go to the County Judge's office.
re:SearchTX covers electronic Cases, Filings, Text in Documents, and Hearings where available. For Precinct 2 matters, use the JP2 posted docket. Older, targeted, or certified district records need the District Clerk's Record Search form. A visit to the counter also works. No single source serves as a complete Kendall County civil docket index.
- Identify the court from the papers, case type, cause number, or precinct.
- Search the proper electronic portal or posted court docket.
- Match the cause number, parties, court, and date.
- Open the case, filing, or hearing details available to the public.
- Ask the responsible clerk for the order, judgment, or certified copy.
Kendall JP2 Posts a Civil Calendar
Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 posts the clearest local civil docket table in Kendall County. Its 2026 page is grouped by month and open to anyone without an account. Each row carries DATE, TIME, CAUSE #, PLAINTIFF/DEFENDANT, CASE STATUS, and CASE TYPE. Treat it as a calendar and status snapshot rather than a full pleading file. The official JP2 docket displays the local field structure.

The table tells you the event happened on the schedule. For service, judgment terms, possession, damages, or appeal status, the clerk and the filed order still govern.
Inside a Kendall County Civil Docket
A civil docket row packs a lot into a few fields. Read the court and year context first. Then copy the cause number exactly, prefix, year, precinct, punctuation and all. Match up the event date, status, and type. A posted label like TRIAL SET only means the case was scheduled. It does not prove the trial took place.
| Date and time | The scheduled event; confirm changes and arrival instructions with the court. |
|---|---|
| Cause number | The exact identifier, including a local pattern such as DC2025-2-044. |
| Party field | The plaintiff and defendant heading; names should be matched with the cause number. |
| Case status | A short procedural snapshot, not the full effect of an order. |
| Case type | The event or category, such as debt trial, eviction hearing, or small claims. |
| Filed record | The petition, motion, notice, order, or judgment available through the clerk if public. |
Statewide results can add Case Details, Filing Details, or Hearing Details. Even so, an exhibit may stay sealed or withheld while the filing event stays visible.
Kendall Civil Status Labels Need Context
JP2 labels are plain but compact. RESET means an event moved. NON-SUIT signals a plaintiff's nonsuit or dismissal-type event. DISMISSED reports dismissal, though the order must be read for scope and conditions. DEFAULT JUDGMENT can follow a party's default. AGREED JUDGMENT reflects an agreement, and JUDGMENT - PLAINTIFF gives the prevailing side in shorthand. Every label needs the filed judgment for the exact terms.
- DWOP
- Dismissal for want of prosecution; confirm the order and current court procedure.
- Pretrial hearing
- A hearing before trial for a case-specific procedural purpose.
- Show cause hearing
- A setting at which a party must address stated noncompliance or another issue.
- Release of judgment
- An event tied to a release document; obtain the filed instrument.
- Trial set
- A trial placed on the schedule, not proof that trial took place.
A cause-number prefix can hint at debt, landlord-tenant, small-claims, or another local format. For anything binding, ask the correct precinct clerk.
Civil Case Types on the Docket
Civil work in Kendall County splits by jurisdiction. The district courts list broad civil and family authority. JP courts handle limited civil matters within their own authority. County-level probate and related records follow a separate clerk route. Municipal ordinance cases are not ordinary district lawsuits. Federal civil matters never sit with a Kendall clerk.
- District civil disputes, including land-title and election-contest matters
- Family cases such as divorce, SAPCR, adoption, and name change
- Justice-court debt claims and small claims
- Justice-court eviction trials and hearings
- County probate matters and contested probate routing
- Federal civil cases searched through WDTX and PACER
Civil cases split by subject and by which court has authority over the claim. A Kendall County civil docket can cover contracts, property disputes, and other matters. One caution: the County Clerk's official-records portal does not include lawsuits just because it counts as an official county search.
Kendall Property Search Is Not Civil Court
The County Clerk's publicsearch.us system searches property and official instruments, not lawsuits. Quick Search and Advanced Search offer grantor or grantee terms, subdivision, document type or number, recorded-date ranges, and index-only or OCR text scopes. Those controls work well for deeds, liens, and other recorded instruments. They do not reach the civil lawsuit docket.
Wrong-portal warning: A deed or lien index result is an official record, but it is not a Kendall County civil case, hearing, pleading, or judgment.
A lawsuit takes you back to the district or JP route. A filed instrument affecting property may belong in the County Clerk portal. Match the record type, not just a shared party name.
Kendall Civil Docket Settings and Hearings
The 451st and 498th District Courts publish calendar links and name separate coordinators. Mateo Santos coordinates the 451st at extension 308. Nancy Graham coordinates the 498th at extension 310. A calendar entry is not a full docket sheet, and it can change after publication. Confirm the latest setting with the assigned court.
The 451st local rules lay out a specific setting process. The motion or pleading is filed with the District Clerk, and a separate request asks for an oral hearing or submission. The coordinator needs the setting type and the estimated time. Once a date is offered, the moving party confers as required and files a Notice Setting. That filed notice, plus the court's latest instruction, beats an older calendar entry.
JP2 works on a posted schedule instead. An eviction hearing, debt trial, or pretrial hearing names the type of event but not the case deadline rules. Use current clerk forms and court instructions for service, answer, trial, appeal, or writ steps.
Kendall Docket Archives Can Mislead
JP2 keeps a prior-year docket page too. Same fields, older listings. Treat it as an archive, not a live case-status feed, because a reset, dismissal, judgment, or appeal can change everything a reader needs to know about the Kendall County case. The official prior-year page shows the archive distinction.

Grab the cause number from an archived row. Then check the current docket, or ask the JP2 clerk directly for the latest public status and record on the case.
Kendall Civil Docket Copy Requests
Civil record copies start with the District Clerk. The office sits at 201 East San Antonio Avenue, Suite 201, Boerne. The phone number is 830-249-9343. Counter hours run 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Record Search form wants party names, a case number, an estimated date or year, the record type, and your contact details. You can request a civil record, order, judgment, certified copy, regular copy, active case, or disposed case.
For cases older than 2010, the posted search amount is $5 per person plus $5 per decade. Texas Government Code Section 51.318 sets other district-clerk charges. They vary by product, including certification and page costs. Call to confirm the total before you send payment. No case number? The form marks it required anyway, so phone the office for completion instructions.
Justice court copies go to the precinct clerk handling the case. The JP1, JP2, and JP3 pages show filing examples of $54 plus a $100 Kendall service fee per person. Those figures cover filing and service, not copies. They should be confirmed for the case and service count involved.
Civil Docket Access Rules
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a presumes court records are open. It also sets the process for sealing them. Rule 21c handles sensitive data and redaction. So a docket entry can stay public. But an exhibit, family filing, adoption record, or protected attachment stays restricted. The clerk decides what public material gets released.
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 covers judicial records and written requests to their custodian. The Texas Judicial Branch open-records policy explains that point in detail. Adjudicative case records do not follow an ordinary Texas Public Information Act request. Ask the clerk about the court's own case-record process. Do not send a generic county information request.
Public does not mean complete online access. Portal metadata, a docket sheet, a plain copy, and a certified judgment are distinct records. Restricted data and sealed filings remain unavailable through public search.
The cause number is your bridge from the screen to the clerk. The Kendall County case lookup has more detail on name and number searches across the available systems.
